GETTING MEDICAL EVIDENCE IS ESSENTIAL TO GETTING BENEFITS

"The road to getting disability benefits runs through your doctor's office."
Federal law requires that your disabling condition be proven with objective medical evidence.  Unfortunately, many people have lost their health insurance and can't afford regular doctor's visits.  This poses a huge problem when they try to get Social Security disability benefits.  Even if the judge believes that you are disabled, you can't be approved without medical evidence.  And medical evidence must be current.  I define "current" as within the past 3 months.  We do, of course, use older evidence--but we also need current evidence.

If you are uninsured and can't afford to see the doctor, what can you do?

My office keeps up with low cost medical clinics and free clinics that see patients in the Huntsville - North Alabama area.  If you call us, we may be able to direct you to a doctor you can afford. This not only helps with your medical treatment, it may help you get Social Security benefits, too.
